Further information concerning the death in Queensland a few weeks ago of the well-known cross-country jockey R. Wilson, is contained in a letter to a Northern paper from Mr. W. G Greig, who writes from Muttaburra, Central Queensland. He says:-“Wilson came to Queensland with me last year, and took up a position as horse trainer on Brookwood station, Muttaburra. Being in indifferent health, he found the climate most beneficial. He was riding after horses on Woodleigh Creek, and not returning when expected, a search was made next morning, when the poor fellow was found unconscious, from which state he never recovered, dying the following day in Muttaburra Hospital. It is apparent he attempted to jump a washaway, and his horse fell into it, and crushed the rider. The horse has been recovered, with much skin knocked off his head, and very much bloodstained.”
