“Jimmy Thompson is dead. This may not interest the Muttaburra or Blackall people, but if I say “old Scottie” is dead, they know well enough what I mean, for it was by the same of “old Scottie” that Jimmy was best known. Jimmy needs no introduction, for himself and his eccentricities were well known all over the Mitchell district. It was at Muttaburra that Jimmy breathed his last, and it was at the Mount. Cornish Hotel that heart disease found him. Not that James was ever fond of hotels, but — well, he’s gone now, and old Western men have seen their last of “old Scottie.” [Source: PERSONALS.
