Suicide at Winton.
A young man named Arthur Goldstiver committed suicide by shooting himself with a Winchester rifle in Scot’s Hotel about half-past 4 o’clock this morning (our Winton correspondent telegraphed last night). Deceased had been in ill health for some time and when he rose this morning he placed a rifle which he had previously cleaned to his forehead, and pulled the trigger. The bullet entered his head above the eye, and death was instantaneous. Deceased, who was only about 26 years of age, was a labourer.
He leaves a widow and one child. He was of a quiet disposition, and abstemious in his habits, but his illness preyed on his mind.
