A sad drowning fatality occurred at Bowen Downs last Friday (our Muttaburra correspondent telegraphs). It appears that an old age pensioner named Fred Goodman, aged 78 years, who had been on Bowen Downs for about 20 years, went fishing at Flannigan’s water hole, on Cornish Creek, about two miles from the head station. As he had not returned at 9 pm., a party went in search of him, and as his clothes were found on the bank of the waterhole it was surmised that he had done what he usually did when his line got caught, which was to go in and release it. His body was found on Saturday in the waterhole, after dragging. Constable Crane was sent out to investigate the matter, and Mr. S. P. Fraser, J.P., manager of Bowen Downs, held an inquiry.
