FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.
On Monday morning, 1st inst. it was reported to the police by two boys named James Toole and James Ah Que that whilst riding in a paddock on Mount Cornish station, about eight miles from here, they had found the dead body of a man near the Thomson River. Sergeant Blyton and Constable Miller, accompanied by Dr. Townley, proceeded with the boys to where they had seen the corpse, which was found to be that of a man apparently about 60 years of age. Dr. Townley made an examination of the body, and as death was evidently due to natural causes the police buried the man near where he was found. From papers found on him his name would seem to be William Neville (Nevill), a travelling plumber or tinsmith. His saddles and pack were at the foot of a tree near where the deceased lay, and his horses were hobbled within sight. His property was taken charge of by the police. From the dried-up state of the body the man must have been dead about three weeks.
