Broken Neck After Dive Into River
A Muttaburra lad is seriously ill in hospital there with a broken neck and partially paralysed arms following a dive into shallow water at a swimming party on Wednesday evening. The parents have been asked to make tentative arrangements to have him flown to Brisbane for specialist treatment, if his condition permits, but at present he is not able to be moved. He is Roy (sic) Little (15), son of Mr. and Mrs. Vic Little of Muttaburra. He and some companions went to the Pump Hole, a well known picnic and swimming spot in the Thomson River, and while there, Little dived into shallow water. Two of his mates took him from the water, and rushed him back to town by car. Mr. and Mrs. Little have made arrangements with Somerset Airways to fly the patient to Brisbane, if his condition permits later. Little is employed at Somerset Garage, Muttaburra.

RAYMOND LITTLE PASSES
Raymond Little (15), eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Little of Muttaburra, who broke his neck when he dived into shallow water in the Thomson River while swimming on the evening of 17th Dec ember, passed away in the Muttaburra Hospital at 8 p.m. on Friday night. During the afternoon he took a sudden turn for the worse, although he seemed to be holding his own till then. He was buried on Saturday after noon, in the Muttaburra Cemetery, Rev. Fr. Collins officiating, and the largest funeral ever seen in Muttaburra testified to the deep respect in which deceased was held by all sections of the community, in town and country. He was a most popular and like able young lad of quiet disposition, and will be a great loss to the district. He was employed as a garage assistant in the Somerset Garage.
