DEATH OF MR. BOB SWANSON The unexpected and untimely death of Mr. Robert Swanson, of Birracannia, Muttaburra, occurred at the Muttaburra Hospital on the 11th June. He had been in hospital about a week, having been flown in from Birracannia. He had undergone an operation about two years ago, but had recovered much of his health and strength since. He was only 41 years of age. Deceased was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Swanson, of Birracannia, which property the parents purchased from Mr. Norman MacDonald. They came there from Barcooarah, Aramac. It was here that the young Robert came as a lad and the management of which he took over, on his father’s death. In addition he also controlled the other family interests in Yarrowmere and Claydon. He married Miss McArdle, of Prairie, and there are three children mourning his passing with their mother. They are Robin, the eldest daughter of 14, Geoffrey (12) and Fred (6). There are also two sisters surviving deceased – Mrs. Tom Kendall of Lowood, and Mrs. Marwhinney of Brisbane. Of his brothers, Jack is a farmer near Ipswich, and Fred was killed in action in the Second World War. The late Mr. Swanson was a very popular resident of the Muttaburra and Prairie districts, and there was a very large cortege following his funeral to the Muttaburra cemetery on Saturday. Included were many of his friends who hurried away from the Hughenden Show when they heard the sad news of his death.
